Man, what a tough game to start the 2010 campaign. Very tough. Here is the recap:
In the first inning, the Padres went down 1-2-3.
In the bottom of the first, along with an Everth Cabrera error that really hurt the Padres, Miguel Montero hit a 2 run single. Bam. Just like that. Down 2-0 versus a fantastic pitcher.
In the second inning, The Padres got their first heat of the season, a double by Chase Headley with 1 out. But they couldn’t get him home, and the score remained 2-0, D-Backs.
In the bottom of the second, the D-Backs went down 1-2-3.
Padres did nothing in the top of the 3rd, but in the bottom of the 3rd Mark Reynolds went deep, a 2 run shot.
In the 4th, the Padres again went down 1-2-3. In the bottom half, Stephen Drew hit an inside the park homer to put the D-Backs up 6-0.
There was not much action until the top of the 7th, when Adrian Gonzalez doubled. Chase Headley brought him home with a single, making it 6-1.
The score remained 6-1 until, with 2 outs in the top of the 9th, A-Gon and Kyle Blanks went back-to-back, making it 6-3. But that was all the Padres could muster, and the D-Backs win game 1, 6-3.
It was a tough loss, but they just needed to get their Opening Day jitters out of the way. I’m feeling a win for the Pads tonight, as Chris Young takes the hill versus Edwin Jackson.
Have a good afternoon and night everyone, stay safe, and God Bless!!!
